High-altitude construction site: the Pedrotti Hut

The Pedrotti Mountain Hut, the oldest in the Brenta Dolomites, stands at an elevation of 2,491 meters in a high-mountain setting of extraordinary environmental and scenic value. It is a symbolic place, deeply rooted in the history of mountaineering and high-altitude hospitality, which over time has required conservation efforts to preserve its heritage.

The structural design by Moser Associati called for an expansion of the building’s volume,the modernization of its systems, andcompliance with safety regulations, with the aim of improving the comfort and usability of the mountain hut while preserving its historical identity and delicate balance with the surrounding natural environment.

The work carried out using Tassullo systems focused in particular on the restoration and protection of the facades. To preserve the aesthetic appeal of the historic exposed stone masonry, specific restoration products were used that were chemically and color-compatible. Due to the shelter’s unique location, in direct contact with the rock, it was necessary to apply HYDRO BARRIER injections—a hydroalcoholic solution used to create a water-repellent chemical barrier—which is ideal for limiting the rise and infiltration of moisture within the masonry.

Sulle murature in pietra, i giunti sono stati ripristinati con FORTE CALCE, un prodotto estremamente resistente al degrado ed alle condizioni estreme imposte dall'alta quota, ideale per la riparazione locale di elementi in muratura in contesti di restauro dove è richiesta la massima compatibilità con i materiali storici. Un intervento puntuale e rispettoso, finalizzato a ripristinare la continuità e la stabilità della muratura senza alterarne le caratteristiche originarie. Le murature sono poi state riparate con LITHOS PLUS, un protettivo traspirante idrorepellente a base di silossani oligomerici che permette di prolungare la vita di pietre e fughe senza coprirne i naturali colori. Grazie alla bassa viscosità e all’elevata capacità di penetrazione, il principio attivo agisce in profondità nei materiali porosi, garantendo una protezione duratura nel tempo. Il prodotto non modifica la traspirabilità del supporto e assicura un’ottima resistenza ai raggi UV, caratteristiche fondamentali in un contesto di alta quota.

In un ambiente esposto a condizioni meteorologiche estreme, forti escursioni termiche e sollecitazioni continue, l’impiego di soluzioni in calce idraulica naturale NHL 5 si conferma una scelta ideale per assicurare compatibilità e durabilità, nel pieno rispetto della materia storica e delle esigenze strutturali dell’edificio.
